Camera location

The camera location consists of 3 independent parameters: 1) latitude, 2) longitude, and 3) height above sea-level. At Langmuir Laboratory, New Mexico, there were 2 primary observation sites: 1) the Balloon Hangar in 1996 and 1997 and 2) the Annex patio in 1998. In both instances, the camera location was obtained by using a nearby theodolite stand as a reference. For the balloon hangar, the cameras were usually situated about 50 m away from the theodolite stand and the location of the camera was corrected for this (even though this is a small correction for sprite measurements). At the annex, the cameras were located close enough to a theodolite stand that no correction was necessary.

At the Kennedy Space Center in 1997, the location of the camera was determined by using the nearby LDAR central station as a reference and correcting for the estimated range and direction of the camera from the station.
